Yes, you can deepen your restorative practice and teaching. No, it does not mean creating deeper relaxation.

Like any practice, restorative / recuperative postures can be overdone, in which case negative effects can develop and/or appear, ranging from increased pain, increased loss of circulation and unnecessary emotional reactions.

In this training, you will integrate the essentials of restorative / recuperative practices and learn to find the right balance between underdoing and overdoing. We will also discuss thoroughly on how to make this practice something that helps build resilience of the nervous system in the long run.

Each day we will begin with morning meditation, followed by breath work, asana practice and lecture that encompass the following topics:

  • Deep supported poses and their variations including Bhismasana, Supta Baddha Konasana and more.
  • How to adapt backbends and standing poses in order to receive their deeper restorative / recuperative benefits.
  • Subtleties and deeper levels of Savasana.
  • How to tell when the restorative effect of a posture is actually starting and when it’s ending.
  • Signs that deep relaxation is overwhelming the nervous system, especially in cases of trauma, depression or anxiety.
  • How to free up the breath from habitual tension patterns.
  • Setting foundation for the practice of Pranayama.

Suitable for:

  • Practitioners who wish to improve their self-practice deeper on asana and pranayama.
  • Practitioners who wish to nourish self and/or others with restorative / recuperative yoga
  • Teachers who want to deepen their understanding and teaching of restoratives.
  • At least one year of regular yoga practice.
