Embark on a transformative yoga journey guided by the global Yoga Master- Chuck Miller's deep understanding of yoga as a holistic practice. In this course, you'll explore the essence of yoga beyond the physical postures, diving into the practice's rich philosophy and subtle aspects.

You'll cultivate a more profound connection with your body, mind, and spirit through a blend of dynamic asana, breathwork, meditation, and philosophy. Chuck's teachings, rooted in years of experience and study, offer a unique perspective on how yoga can be a vehicle for self-discovery and personal growth.

This will be a special guided Ashtanga Yoga class. We will not go through the sequence at full speed. We will reform our guidance on what practice means and How to Practice this great form. We will start from the beginning, make the beginning more important than «getting to the end, " and focus on the importance of the basic concepts.

Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or new to yoga, this course invites you to deepen your practice, refine your awareness, and uncover the transformative power of yoga in your life.

Day 1
Meet and greet, orientation, creating a common vocabulary so we can be more efficient, detailed exploration of Samasthiti and SamaVrttiUjjayi Pranayama. 
Afternoon: Q&A, Yoga Philosophy, Hands-on partner work to better understand the detailed alignment and actions to support Samasthiti. 

Day 2
Continue supporting Samasthiti as we develop in detail SuryaNamaskara A&B using all of the Samasthiti alignment and actions. 
Q&A, Philosophy, Vinyasa, Breath Roots Core, Hands on partner work to explore the postures of Suryanamaskara in detail. 

Day 3
Asana workshop: Add Standing Postures one by one, in detail. 
Afternoon: Q&A, Discussion, Hands on adjustment related to Standing Postures. 

Day 4
Asana workshop: continue through all standing postures. 
Afternoon: Q&A, Discussion, Hands-on adjustment in Standing Postures. 

Day 5
Mysore Style Morning Practice with Teacher Assists. 
Explore more difficult postures. 
Review the practice. Q&A

Chuck Miller started practicing yoga in 1971 and studied the Ashtanga vinyasa method with its founder, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, for over 18 years. Chuck has been teaching yoga since 1988 and he is known for his gentle but deliberate hands-on adjustments. He enjoys teaching Ashtanga yoga as a holistic philosophical system and practical method. 

Chuck was the former Director of Ashtanga Yoga and co-owned the original Yoga Works studio in Santa Monica, California for over 16 years. He played a key role in creating multiple teacher training programs combining alignment intelligence, sequencing, rigorous practice of Ashtanga yoga along with his deep understanding of philosophy, anatomy and breathwork. 

Chuck is one of the most senior teachers in the Ashtanga yoga lineage and has also studied with senior Iyengar yoga teachers including Prashant Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar, Eric Small, Dona Hollerman and others within Krishnamacharya's lineage. His depth of knowledge and experience spans both traditional and modern approaches.

Understanding Samasthiti

Understanding Samasthiti

Samasthiti is an important concept in yoga, derived from Sanskrit where "sama" means "equal" or "balanced" and "sthiti" means "standing" or "existence." Therefore, Samasthiti is often referred to as "Mountain Pose" or "Standing Pose," but its meaning goes far beyond that.

Through practicing Samasthiti, practitioners can develop sensitivity to their body posture and learn how to find inner stability and peace in stillness. In practice, every part of the body should be in harmonious symmetry and balance, reflecting one of the core principles of yoga – inner and outer balance.

Samasthiti also serves as the foundation for other poses. Returning to Samasthiti before starting each practice can help practitioners focus their attention, establish proper body alignment, and prepare for the next pose. This practice of finding balance in stillness not only enhances physical stability and strength but also cultivates mental focus and tranquility.

About Information Session

We cordially invite you to join an online information session presented by the esteemed American yoga master Chuck Miller. This session provides a comprehensive overview of his upcoming five-day intensive workshop in October.

This 1-hour online session includes an introduction to the core principles and content of the workshop, along with a brief meditation and breathing practice, giving you a full understanding of the training content and essence before you register.

As the former Chairman of Ashtanga Yoga and a founding partner of Santa Monica Yoga Works in California, Chuck Miller is a prominent practitioner and instructor in the yoga community. He began practicing yoga in 1971 and has been teaching since 1988. Chuck's practice background spans both Ashtanga and Iyengar disciplines, and his extensive knowledge and experience bridge traditional and contemporary styles, making his teaching both historically rooted and practically modern.

In this information session, you will have the opportunity to hear Chuck share his teaching philosophy and practice insights personally, as well as explain the design concept and main content of the five-day course in detail.
