This talk is all about the ways and means to develop your own personal yoga practice: how to begin if you're new, and how to go deeper if you're already a practitioner. And it doesn’t have to take 2-3 hours!

  • Participants shall sign in half an hour prior to SPACE TALK starting time and enter the classroom 5 minutes before the class. To avoid affecting other practitioners, latecomers will not be allowed entry.
  • Mobiles are not allowed into the classroom in order to maintain the best quality of SPACE TALK.
  • Shoes, food and drinks are NOT allowed inside the studio. Please remove your shoes when arriving the studio.
  • SPACE will video record and photograph the training for our records and promotion purposes.

  • Whether you have been practicing Iyengar Yoga or not, there is a class series that fits your level. These class series are designed for progressive learning, so you can build up your experience and learning from the first day. After four short days of consistent practice, you’ll be pleasantly surprise how far you have gone.

It is great to do all three series. The pranayama classes will offer you a stability and stillness ( clarity) of the mind and calm energy to the body. Level 1 class series will provide the more fundamental understanding as you build towards level 2 practices. For those who are at level 2, revisiting the level 1 class will help you solidify your foundation.

Peter Scott has been practicing yoga since 1977 and has devoted almost 40 years to the art and science of yoga. He is a Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher based in Melbourne, Australia at Yoga Jivana (Yoga Life) Centre, which he runs in partnership. He began teaching in 1982 and currently runs Teacher Training Courses and Workshops in Australia and Overseas.

Peter's classes, workshops and trainings are a culmination of his years of dedicated practice and teaching. He is much loved by students in Australia and overseas for his ability to inspire and guide the practitioner along the path of yoga, and for the clarity he creates when teaching. Peter's instructions and his approach to teaching leads the student into that penetration of awareness to where body, senses, organs of action, mind and intellect work together to give lightness of body and calmness of mind during the asana practice. Through his long-term practice of yoga combined with his original study of Naturopathy and Remedial Massage (Grad. SSNT 1985), Peter has extensive knowledge of the body, its functions and how that relates to yogic wisdom.

A teacher trainer in Iyengar Yoga since 1990, Peter has specifically developed this approach for Teacher Training in Iyengar Yoga from his years of experience, to provide a clear and effective method of learning the art and science of yoga teaching and help yoga students' progress seamlessly from being in the class to standing in front and teaching the class.

Iyengar Yoga, created by B. K. S. Iyengar (born 1918), is recognized as the safest, most scientific and therapeutic style of yoga. At the age of 15, as an ailing child, Iyengar started studying yoga to improve his health. His Guru, T. Krishnamacharya, often referred to as “the father of modern Yoga”, who is also the Guru to Pattabhi Jois, the founder of Ashtanga Yoga. While much of the modern yoga is based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya, Iyengar is often credited for popularizing yoga around the world. and his seminal manual Light on Yoga (1965), often called “the Bible of yoga”, has been the source book for many yoga students.

Using his own body, he persistently studied in great detail the effect of on the anatomical structure, physiological functioning, psychological effect, and the length of time required to bring one’s body, mind and spirit in union, the result was a style of yoga that is characterized by great attention to detail and precise focus on body alignment in practicing Asanas. Teaching his insights since 1936, he pioneered the use of props as aids to help student safely ease into a pose. This enables students to perform the asanas correctly and minimizing the risk of injury or strain. Props such as blocks, straps, chairs, blankets and bolsters are now widely used by yoga studios of all types. Today Iyengar Yoga is taught and practiced all over the world as a safe and powerful method to relieve modern-day stress and to promote total physical and spiritual well-being. It can be practiced by all body types, ages and is especially beneficial to those with certain medical conditions.

Because of its numerous health benefits, Iyengar Yoga is often perceived as a form of “physical” yoga, but it is firmly rooted in traditional yogic philosophy. Iyengar Yoga is based on the Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, perhaps the most authoritative of all yoga texts with 196 sutras that serve as roadmaps for the inner journey. As such, Iyengar Yoga is a system of life which when practiced with awareness can develop every level of our being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - enhancing all aspects of our lives.
