Winnie Wall Rope Practice Workshop
Neck & Shoulder Release and Creating Space in the Thoracic Spine
Weekend Intensive Workshop
2026.09.12 (Sat) 09:30–12:30
Early Bird Offer: From now until 2026.08.12 (Wed)
Course Description
This workshop is grounded in the precise geometric framework of Iyengar Yoga, utilizing the yoga wall ropes in combination with props such as chairs, bolsters, and yoga blocks. The wall ropes are used as an extension of the body, offering exceptional stability, support, and traction for both extension and alignment.
In unsupported backbends or inversions, practitioners often experience fear that prevents full relaxation. This can lead to unnecessary muscular tension and compensatory effort, restricting proper spinal extension. In many general group classes, wall ropes are often used primarily for broad traction under gravity, which may feel unstable or unsafe for students with lower strength levels or heightened sensitivity.
The uniqueness of this workshop lies in the integration of rope traction and prop-based support. The distinctive pulling effect of the wall ropes creates an opposing force within the body, enabling precise refinement of bone and joint alignment. This helps participants become aware of blind spots in their structure, reduce habitual tension patterns, and activate deeper stabilizing muscle groups.
With this dual system of support and traction, the nervous system is guided into a more regulated state, allowing practitioners to safely and progressively enter deeper layers of practice. This approach effectively releases tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, alleviating chest tightness and stiffness in the thoracic region.
Within a safe and supported environment, you will experience greater expansion of the chest, stability of the shoulder girdle, and an increased sense of breath capacity—facilitating deep restoration and healing.

About Winnie
Winnie is a certified Iyengar Yoga Level 2 teacher whose teaching is characterized by precision, attentiveness, and stability. She specializes in guiding students to develop awareness of their structural alignment and present-moment condition, helping them discover a practice that is appropriate for their own body through the support of alignment principles and props.
In this supported approach, the body is able to gradually open, release, and expand in a safe and grounded way.
For Winnie, yoga is more than the practice of postures—it is a process of returning to the body and listening inward. In her teaching, she pays close attention to the physical and emotional changes students experience through different stages of life.
She gently supports practitioners through tension, stagnation, and moments of frustration, guiding them toward greater stability, openness, and self-acceptance. Through this journey, she invites students to embody the deeper meaning of yoga within their everyday lives.
