Hart Lazer – Starting Meditation: Guided Practice Series
Through years of consistent meditation practice, Hart Lazer combines his knowledge of Buddhism with a wide range of meditation techniques to guide students into the field of meditation. His teaching cultivates compassion toward oneself and others, as well as the ability to remain grounded in the present moment.
Hart often reminds us that asana, meditation, and pranayama are practices that teach us how to face uncertainty and live with impermanence. Thoughts arise and dissolve unpredictably, and each meditation session may not always be serene. If you have never shed tears during meditation, it may mean you have not yet entered its deeper layers.
Through diverse forms and approaches to meditation practice, Hart leads students to learn surrender and letting go—without clinging to any particular thought or image—so that you may draw closer to and truly know your inner self. In this way, meditation becomes not only a spiritual path but also a practical tool to relieve stress and ease worries in everyday life.

Hart Lazer is a renowned “teacher of teachers” with nearly 40 years of yoga teaching and practice experience. He studied closely with Ramanand Patel of the Iyengar lineage and spent several years exploring Ashtanga yoga. He is also the co-founder of United Yoga Montreal.
Hart’s teaching integrates therapeutic yoga with the wisdom of multiple traditions, characterized by structure, depth, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and challenge. His insights into biomechanics within asana practice are especially profound.
Hart often shares his unique life journey with students, including his years in a Jewish seminary, his work in healing counseling, and decades of yoga teaching and practice. In recent years, he has dedicated himself to exploring the intersection of Buddhism, yoga, and trauma, developing a multi-dimensional system to address the obstacles practitioners may encounter.
Regardless of lineage or background, Hart’s guidance is highly sought after by yoga teachers worldwide. His precise observation of students’ subtle physical expressions often reveals both surface patterns and deeper imprints. He is a teacher who can guide practitioners further along their path.
