KELLY C
Yoga

In 2002, Kelly Chow embarked on her exploration of yoga due to pure curiosity. Since then she has been to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bali and India, which she visited yearly to study yoga and learn about life for many years.

During the early stage of her journey, under influence of her first teachers Ming and David Swenson, Kelly Chow immersed herself in the disciplined Ashtanga Yoga, which has the quality of meditation-in-motion. Multiple visits to Mysore to learn from Guruji Pattabhi Jois helped her build a solid personal practice and establish confidence and calmness in her teaching. Later as she gained more and more experience, she extended to other traditions and began to take in Viniyoga (T.K.V. Desikachar), Iyengar Yoga and concepts of Western physiotherapy into her teaching.

Moving to Bali in 2012 was the turning point of her life. She then lived there for almost 6 years, started a family and became a mother. The delivery of her child in Ubud was absolutely ‘yoga’ to her. There was no doctor or no nurse, no epidural, no augmentation, no irritating sounds of modern medical device of any kind. Accompanied by the very best midwife, she and her husband welcomed their baby with love and chant. After that Kelly Chow continued to work at the holistic birth center in Ubud to help pregnant women have a smoother pregnancy with yoga practice.

With the experience gained in Bali, Kelly Chow built up great energy and became a wonderful storyteller. She is always able to adapt the language and bring complex yoga theories into a basic level practice. In her class, she always puts great emphasis on integrating asana and breath, guiding the students to step-by-step feel and experience with their own body, since she believes that students of all levels can find his or her inner flow. She also has her students look at the broader spectrum of yoga, so that they expand their practice to their daily activities, ranging from eating to meditation.

Now that she has moved back to Taiwan with her family (2 healthy and lively kids now), Kelly Chow is ready to share more. She believes that when sharing yoga, rich experience and extensive knowledge are important indeed, but what’s even more important is to have a heart that’s full of passion and appreciation of life.
