Sharon had wanted to be a doctor when she was little and now she uses yoga as a tool to help her students to heal themselves on both the physical and mental levels. With years of practice in Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga, Sharon is a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level (E-RYT 500) as well as a certified pranayama teacher from Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute. She currently teaches basics, hot, myo-fascia release yoga, hatha, flow and pranayama and hatha classes. Whether it is a basics or an advanced class, she employs the principles of biomechanics to guide her students to flow through forward bends, backbends, twists, side bends, inversions and poses that work on the functional lines of the body.
Yoga is deeply rooted in how she lives her life, including her interests in running marathons and traveling. To her, running is simply another way of observing the breath and marathon is a challenge that tests one’s limits to experience the hardship of the training and the joy of finishing a race. And traveling for her is to cultivate her courage in facing the unknown and ability to adjust in difficulties. Meeting people during her travels and being able to share each other’s stories and seeing each other’s true essence made her realize how life can be precious and fulfilling.
In each class, she aims to bring knowledge and positive energy to her students, while spreading the motivation for health. She is currently training to teach Pilates and would like to continue to use yoga and rehabilitative exercise to help others heal. She hopes her own learning can in turn help others who are in need.
