Course Contents

Join Jules Mitchell for two online yoga classes that translate her teaching directly into practice. Instead of learning ideas about the body, you’ll work through them on the mat. Sensing and feeling become the lesson.

Both classes use familiar yoga poses, but the sequences are built around different priorities than strengthening or stretching driven classes. The focus is on attention, intention, and action. It’s about how poses are explored, not how far they are taken.

The first class begins with an upper back, neck, and shoulder focused somatic practice. Through variation and open-ended cueing, the sequence emphasizes creative problem solving and exploratory approaches to movement limitations.

The second class is organized around a breathing practice. Directed breath is integrated into yoga poses to explore how rib cage motion and pressure relationships influence spinal movement and flexibility.

This class series is for yoga teachers and students interested in alternatives to push harder strategies in twists and backbends. It offers new ways to relate to the upper back, shoulders, and neck, and may shift how you experience upper body effort and organization in practice.

*Recordings will be available for 30 days.

Suitable for

Yoga practitioners seeking a creative and exploratory solutions of the upper back, neck, and shoulder, and a more comfortable, stable, and sustainable practice through awareness rather than depth or perfection.

Anyone curious about how breath shapes the experience of postures, and interested in exploring the relationship between breath, tension, and movement.

• Somatic practitioners, movement educators, bodyworkers, and experienced students who wish to deepen learning through embodied awareness.

What to prepare

Please make sure you have enough space to move freely. Some practices are best done on carpet or on a blanket that can slide easily. It is recommended to have a yoga mat, yoga blocks, a strap, and a blanket available.
(If you don’t have all these props, that’s perfectly fine—you can adapt using what you have on hand.)
