One’s particular character is naturally reflected in one’s yoga practice and attitude towards life. And the Anusara practice is about gaining a deeper understanding about one’s own self. By letting go of restrictions, connecting to the unimaginable inner creative potential, we are then able to integrate our mind, body and spirit, to experience the state of pure consciousness.
To connect with our inner creative potential, we first have to understand the Anusara yoga philosophy, comprehend the underlining Tantra principle of Shiva-Shakti Tantra.
Shakti represents the creative power of the universe. It is typically personified by the three Goddesses of Kali, Saraswati and Lakshmi, each representing the three stages of union: revelation, reflection and recognition, respectively. To achieve each of the stages, we must connect with the creative power behind these three Goddesses – the creative Shakti.
In this workshop, let’s not get bogged down by the restriction of different levels and let us just have fun together! Like life, yoga practice should be like lively and fun-filled. Together, through our actions, we’ll link up with the divine creative power that is full of limitless potential, and celebrate each of our own beautiful individual manifestation.
2010.10.29 (Fri), 19:00 - 21:30
Shiva – Roots
Through simple poses, we’ll experience Anusara’s basic methodology: the 3 main characteristics, the 3 A’s, Universal Principles of Alignment and the 7 opposing loops. We’ll work to understand the blue print of body’s potential, allowing the stable force of Shiva, transform within the solid body, and be the foundation for awakening the inner creative power.
2010.10.30 (Sat), 09: 00 - 11: 30
Kali – Revelation
The Goddess Kali represents hidden potential, the source energy. Kali’s dark origin reminds us to bravely enter into the core of ourselves and the universe, and discover the revelation of the contrasting Light.
In this session, we’ll start from the flowing standing poses, connect to the power of core and then go into the not quite so difficult, yet not so easy arm balance, back bend and inversion poses.
2010.10.30 (Sat), 14:00 – 16:30
Saraswati – Reflection
Just as we need to use mirror to see the shapes of our body, we can also use “relationships” to reflect different aspects of life. The “knowledge” awakened by Saraswati will transmit to us the order of consciousness and the path of the subtle energy channels.
This session will start from the flow of Sun Salutation, move into the hip opening sequence and then deepen into more advance backbends, to help you discover all of your reflections!
2010.10.31 (Sun), 09:00 - 11:30
Lakshmi – Recognition
Lashmi’s power is sometimes called “Shri”. It is refine and abundant. She reminds us to celebrate all that is manifested in the physical world, and to actively create more elegance and develop deeper harmony. We’ll incorporate the lessons from the previous sessions and explore each pose groups in depth. We’ll learn to allow the breath to lead us to the expansion of the moment and to the connection with the divine.
2010.10.31 (Sun), 14:00 - 16:30
Moving Meditation
This session will be divided into four segments: Swing, Dance, Savasana, and Meditation. Let us be fluid and melt, from form to formless, from embracing to completely releasing knowledge and to fully experience and embody the moment!
This session will include a free eye pillow and all proceeds will be donated to the education of disadvantage children.

About Naichin
Among the Anusara-inspired teachers, Naichin is one of the most experienced bilingual (Chinese and English) teachers. She is also a top yoga translator in Taiwan, assisting numerous international yoga masters in their teachings in the Chinese-speaking world. She is also a Yoga Alliance 200–hour registered teacher and an American AADP certified psychotherapist.
One the earliest pioneers in Taiwan’s yoga trend, Naichin was born and raised in Taiwan. After graduating from college, she worked in the theater before she went to the US for her MBA. During her almost a decade long stay in the US, she followed her heart and passion and attended the world leading holistic nutritional school, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. It was also at this time she got interested in yoga.
Through her Ashtanga Mysore practice, Naichin experienced the expression of deeper concepts such as “beauty”, “love” and “harmony”. The teachers who had initiated her yoga education include Louisa Sears, Lance Schuler, and Dana Kingsberg. In 2005, as fate would have it, she accepted SPACE YOGA’s invitation to come back to Taiwan to teach yoga. And it was at SPACE, with Bruce Bowditch and Desiree Rumbaugh’s guidance that she started practicing Anusara yoga. In the last few years, she has been very fortunate to be able to intensely study with Anusara yoga’s founder, John Friend. She has also studied pranayama with O.P. Tiwari and is deeply influenced by Richard Freeman and Clive Sheridan.
Naichin’s teaching integrates a diverse background and her personal experiences. With warmth and humor, she aims to clearly transmit the ancient knowledge, to initiate the student’s inner power in celebrating life and to encourage students to find their own special light within. She is the author of “Loving Yoga”.
