Adam had his first experience with yoga in 2005 when he was at the gym, surrounded by sweaty guys, and realized that all the cute girls were going into the yoga class. After a quick assessment of the situation, he bought a yoga mat and has been an avid practitioner ever since.
Adam teaches with the understanding that there are a wide variety of motivating factors that bring people into their first yoga practice and keeps them coming, whether that’s weight loss, overall physical fitness, physical therapy, or just a sense that yoga might help to fill a void in one’s life that at first is hard to define. Adam hopes to help everyone through those initial motivating factors by teaching a strong and therapeutic class while at the same time introducing his students to the idea that yoga can offer them so much more than what they originally thought.
In 2007, after completing his degree in Philosophy at the University of Northern Colorado, Adam decided to take the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training to pursue his passion for hot yoga and has since travelled and taught in 13 different countries and learned from some of the most well respected teachers and practitioners of that tradition. He has also competed in a variety of international yoga competitions and won second place in his home region of Colorado in both 2007 and 2008, first place in Singapore in 2012, and finished in the top half of male competitors in the International Yoga Asana Championship that same year in Los Angeles. After moving to China in 2014, Adam was inspired by Patrick Creelman’s teaching and took his 200 hour teacher training course to develop a more firm understanding of the universal principles of alignment and how they apply to practices of all types.
Adam teaches in a clear and concise voice that allows students to focus and stay present with precise alignment cues and informative demonstrations when necessary. He is also an avid storyteller and enjoys sharing his own experiences, as well as making people laugh or think more deeply about certain aspects of their lives. With over a decade of practice and teaching, Adam has developed a love for the practice of yoga that is firmly grounded in physical, mental and emotional results. He believes that yoga has the transformative power to help each of us grow into the best version of ourselves possible and is always eager to help his students along on that powerful process of self-transformation. |
