A Level 2 Immerision : Yoga, Pranayama, Mantra, Kriyas, with special focus on Ayurveda Nutrition and Deepening Pranayama and Meditation.

Spandana means rhythm, that which pulsates and vibrates as Mother Nature intended it to.

Yoga and its therapeutic sister science, Ayurveda, offer us lenses and tools to cleanse our inner mirror. They reflect the happenings of our inner and outer environments. In this workshop, we will go deeper into our asana, pranayama and meditation practices working on silent mantra, breath retentions and bandhas as a method to activate and manipulate the prana (life force within us). We will combine this work with a more detailed look into Ayurveda and Yogic Nutrition. Ayurveda is an invaluable tool for deepening our yoga, and quickly and effectively improving our mental and physical health.

The course consists of 40hrs practice, study, and theory. Hands on and effective learning to deepen your yoga. Hours may be used towards 500hr certicficaton for those who have completed a 200hr course.

  1. Forward folds and twists with vinyasas, building the heat of the fire centre (the "Agni" needs to stay high, as it is the fire of our inner transformation)
  2. Cleansing and awakening the throat chakra and the third eye. Opening up the prana chanels and cleansing at this important energy centre!
  3. Shining from the heart. Compassion, love and bliss radiating from our hearts through the backbends, through song, and mantra. A full exploration of the mechanics of backbends that help the spine to stay healthy, stable and energized.
  4. Turning things upside down. For the full benefit of inversions to take place, the student must maintain the posture for a longer period of time. Learn more stable inversions, longer and with less stress. Discover the therapy of inversion and the benefits to metabolism, immune system and circulation.

  1. The exhale breath. In pranayama practice we "exhale reluctantly",... keeping the breath in the body for longer periods of time. Learn proper technique and refine your bandha work during the exhale.
  2. Refining and stablizing the kumbhaka (the retention of the breath). This is one of the most important techniques to learn in the yoga practices. Done correctly and practiced over a long period of time, the kumbhaka provides a gateway into the subconscious where negative patterns (samskaras) and trauma can be released and consumed by the fire element (agni). In addition, the proper application of kumbhaka is an essential technique in hatha yoga for cleansing the nadis and preparing the system for the kundalini shakti.

Pranayama is the gateway into more stable meditation. In Tantric pranayama we use a more subtle breath and silent mantra. In addition to the traditional Hatha Yoga Pranayamas, we will explore some of these powerful more subtle techniques! This is where some of the magic begins to happen!

Rasa is the taste of food as well as the taste of the emotions we experience. It is the juice of life that gives the sense of satsiation and fulfillment. In this section of Ayurveda Nutrition, you will be introduced to the principles of Rasa, its healing context and how that applies to your unique constitution. You will also learn about the intimate relationship between what you eat on the physical level and what we experience on the levels of emotions and awareness. Finally we will look at the impact of conscious eating on our Yoga practice.

The specific modules covered are :
  1. Ayurveda Tri-doshic Foundation (Revisited and Deepened)
  2. Ayurveda Nutrition Principles and Theories - "Eat for wellness and healing"
  3. Yoga Kitchen Remedies

"The Song of the Lord", Bhagavad Gita, shows us in its teachings that freedom is indeed is the goal of Karma Yoga (the Yoga of Action). The Gita describes what all beings struggle and strive towards, knowingly or unknowingly. Arjuna's battle is that inner battle within all of us on the journey of growth, transcendence or simply living a worthy life.

Selected chapters of the Gita will be explained and discussed, focusing on the concept of action, duty, dharma and freedom. We will look at how applying the wisdom of Gita brings awareness, lightness and peace thus taking our Yoga practice from the mat into our daily life.
