Learning Yoga is a beautiful experience.
A friend of mine took me to SPACE in late March 2005. I was quite uneasy because I was totally new to yoga. My first class was a HOT class. In the room with high heat, I was rinsed by my own sweat. My mind seemingly lost its control over my body, I simply followed the teacher's instructions. After the class that consisted of Asana, Pranamaya, and Savasana, I smiled to myself because I knew that I would be back!
During the practice, I could see the determination to accept the challenge in my own eyes from the reflection in the mirror. I felt the extension of the muscles and bones from the movements, and suddenly I realized that it was the key to the union of the body and the universe.
I closed my eyes and meditated on sunshine, flowers, rainbow, and all things beautiful in the world, and I felt a warm energy instilling into my body. The simple chanting washed and cleansed my mind. In that moment of clarity, I could listen to my innermost self.
Now yoga practice has become a regular part of my life. I have practiced different styles of yoga — Hot, Flow, and Anusara yoga — and have also participated in various workshops. People have seen a difference in me. Some say that I've become more alive, some think that I've developed better stamina, but most say that I appear more at ease than before. I have definitely noticed my own transformation — my flexibility has increased, my posture is better, and most importantly, I have become happier.
Yoga is a wonderful practice. It is not only a physical exercise that challenges your limits, but an opportunity to quiet your mind. I am truly happy to have found yoga. Through yoga, not only have I gotten to know my body better, but I have been able to explore the depth of my mind and spirit.
I'd like to thank all the SPACE teachers, staff, and fellow students in class — some of whom I know personally and others not. You bring me infinite contentment and happiness. |
