A year ago, Yoga to me was nothing but a men’s taboo, women-only exercise. It was either like aerobics, in which everyone would have to “compromise” into tight fitness clothes, or Cirque-de-Solei members who master the human pretzel skills. Seriously, that is how people my age think of what yoga is.
Since I started coming to Yoga at SPACE, I’ve become the talk among my friends.
“He (me, that is) glows recently!”
“Your shoulders and neck have become softer than before, even your neck becomes longer!” My chiropractor said.
“You’ve improved quite a bit, the whole move seems smoother,“ my golf buddies told me.
“Boss, why have you become so much more spirited?” My employees asked me.
“Don’t ask him out for a drink again, he is hooked to Yoga every night now!” My drinking buddies no longer look me up.
Well, exactly! This is what everyone talked about or asked me in the past year. My answer to them is simple. “Because I’m practicing Yoga, and it rocks! Try it yourself!”
Others’ praises may prompt me to do yoga more, but it truly is how I feel in my body and my mind that keeps bringing me back. I really like the feeling of confidence in my body and peace in my mind after every Yoga session.
Beauty of Yoga
The connection between inhale and exhale
Is nothing ordinary.
It possesses great energy, and
powerful potentials.
Focus is the attitude, which
Allows us to be back to the origin,
The emptiness in which everything arises.
Letting go is the spirit, which
Allows the limited to be liberated, and
The expansion to be possible.
I dedicate this short poem to all the teachers, staff, and students at SPACE. |
